OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Sol on September 29, updating its coding, computer-use and professional-work model. The launch covers the API, ChatGPT Work and Codex; the announcement says regular Chat does not yet include it.
What changes for API buyers
Standard prices are $2 per million input tokens, $10 per million output tokens and $0.10 per million cached input tokens. The cache-read rate is half the original Sol rate. The API documentation lists a 1,050,000-token context window and a 128,000-token output ceiling.
Those headline rates need qualification: prompts above 272K input tokens have higher full-request rates, and Fast, Batch, Flex and regional processing use different pricing.

OpenAI describes improvements across several tasks. These are vendor reports, not a new CompareLLM rating. Compare matched tasks, reasoning effort and billed token use before choosing a replacement.
